India’s Students Score Big: Over 2 Million Get Free Access to Google’s AI – What It Means for You

Students engaged in AI learning program.

India has hit a major AI milestone — over 2 million students now have free access to Google’s advanced AI toolkit, thanks to the company’s education‑push initiative led by Chief Technologist Ben Gomes. Moneycontrol Under this initiative, Google is offering its Gemini‑powered tools (including the Gemini 2.5 Pro model) to Indian learners at no cost, enabling capabilities such as image uploads, deep‑research assistance and advanced writing support.

Can Students Still Claim This Free Google AI Access? 🎓

As of November 2025, Google’s free Gemini AI access for students is still active — but it’s limited to users enrolled through Google Workspace for Education partner institutions.

If your college or university uses Google Workspace, simply sign in with your student email and check the Gemini AI or AI Pro options inside your Google account settings or the Gemini app. Eligible users will automatically see “Free Educational Access” in their plan details.

For now, independent students (not tied to a Google Education domain) can’t directly activate the offer — but Google has confirmed plans to expand access globally in early 2026.
👉 So if you’re a student in India, keep your eyes on your official .edu or .ac.in accounts — the wider rollout could arrive anytime.

(AI Tools Guide will update this post as soon as Google officially expands the free access program.)
